Man Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle on I-270 in Germantown

February 22, 2016

A man has died after being struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-270 in Germantown last night, according to Maryland State Police in Rockville.

According the Maryland State Police, Rockville Barrack, Nicolas A. Rodriguez-Sibrian of Montgomery Village was hit by a Subaru Outback while he was walking across southbound I-270 just south of Germantown Road/Rt. 118 last night shortly before 7:00 pm Sunday, February 21.

According to WJLA news, Rodriguez-Sibrian was wearing dark clothing and police believe he “braced” for the impact when he realized that he wouldn’t be able to make it across the interstate before being hit.

Maryland State Police believe that the driver of the Subaru, Deborah Shuman of Silver Spring, travelling within the speed limit and obeying traffic laws when Rodriguez-Sibrian was struck. Shuman was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
