Inspired Eagles Soar to 10th Win, 70-58 Over Clarksburg

A Monday that started somber ended joyously for a Seneca Valley boys basketball team. Late last week, their head coach, Brian Humphrey, lost his father, and the team lost their scorekeeper, James Humphrey.

On Saturday morning, the Screaming Eagles played a lackluster, unfocused, make-up game against Quince Orchard and lost, as their head coach took over keeping the scorebook for his fallen father.

James Humphrey was laid to rest Monday morning. The Seneca Valley boys basketball team attended the funeral knowing that they would be back on the court playing for their coach Monday night against a tough Clarksburg team.

The two schools which both serve parts of Germantown exchanged the lead a number of times in the first quarter which ended tied at 17. In the second period, Seneca Valley’s junior Kareem Matthew and sophomore Triston Price helped the Eagles open a 35-27 halftime lead. Matthew had two three-pointers in the quarter, and Price hit one from beyond the arc and hit three free-throws.
