Montgomery County Winter Storm 2016 Tuesday Update

7:01 pm, Tuesday, January 26.

A Message from Montgomery County Public Information Office

The declaration of a general emergency for Montgomery County by County Executive Ike Leggett will be lifted at midnight tonight, January 26.

On Wednesday, January 27, Montgomery County Government will resume operations on a delayed schedule. County Government and facilities will open at 10:00 am with liberal leave for non-essential employees. Essential employees must report to work at their regularly scheduled times.

Supervisors should determine if any of their normally non-essential employees are essential during this incident and notify them of that fact. Those remaining as non-essential employees who are not able to report at 10:00 am or later may use unscheduled annual leave, paid time off, leave without pay or compensatory time without prior supervisory approval. Those employees who choose not to report for work must notify their supervisors.

The declaration of a snow emergency remains in effect prohibiting parking on snow emergency routes. Free parking in County parking lots and garages has been extended through 9:00 am on Thursday, January 28.

The County's Ride On bus service will operate on the "S" Service Plan. There will be limited service on all weekday routes (except there will be no Route 94 service) making best efforts to provide service every 60 to 90 minutes as conditions allow. Riders are cautioned to expect possible delays and detours and to allow for extra travel time. Detailed information about the S Service Plan is available in English and Spanish.

There will not be Montgomery County recycling and trash collection tomorrow. Residents are asked not be put trash cans and recycling bins at their curbs.

The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station will operate on a 7:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule. The public drop-off areas as well as the transfer building will be open. The entire facility will close at 5:00 pm.

All Montgomery County Recreation Centers and Aquatics Centers will be open at 10:00 am. All Senior Centers are closed and regularly scheduled programs and activities are cancelled. Drop-in activities will be available at Community Recreation Centers.

County Executive Ike Leggett today pledged that all County neighborhood streets in Montgomery County should receive at least one pass from a snowplow by 7:00 am, Wednesday, January 27. County crews will continue to work around-the-clock after that time to improve road conditions.

After 7:00 am, Wednesday, if there is anyone whose street has not been touched by a plow, report that information on the County’sSnow Operations Map or go to the MC311 website, www.mc311.com.

MC311, Montgomery County’s informational call center (available by calling 3-1-1 or 240-777-0311) remains operational around-the-clock. Due to the record high call volume, residents are encouraged to make their inquiries on line at www.mc311.com.
