Northwest Earns Third Win as Clarksburg Struggles With Injuries
The Northwest Jaguars defeated the Clarksburg Coyotes in Germantown on Friday night, by a score of 67-45. The Jags third win of the season comes at the expense of an injury-depleted Clarksburg team.
The Jags jumped out to a 16-8 lead at the end of the first period, thanks to a five-point period from Tyrell Richardson and a pair from three-pointers from TJ Williams and Justin Woodard.
The Coyotes, playing without their leading scorer and Division 1A commit Andrew Kostecka, could only manage 16 points in the first half. Clarksburg trailed Northwest 42-16 after the Jags exploded for 26 points in the second quarter, as seven Jaguars were able to get at least two points in the period.
The Coyotes came back and scored 12 points and held the Jags to just eight in the third period. Clarksburg’s Ryan Costin had seven points in the third, but it the damage had been done, as both teams would score 17 points each in the final period.
The Jags had three players in double-digits and were led by senior Tim Biakapia, who had 17 points and was three-for-four from the free-throw line. Also, in double-digits were seniors Justin Woodard with 12 points and Nick Pinto, who added 11 points. Richardson would finish with nine points.
