Seneca Extends Win-Streak With Victory Over Watkins Mill

The Seneca Valley boys basketball team hosted their closest neighbors from the north on Tuesday night and extended their win-streak to three with a 64-32 victory over Watkins Mill.

Seneca Valley is now on a three game win-streak and ran their season record to 7-3. The Screaming Eagles had three players in double-digits with senior Quentin Twyman leading all scorers with 11 points and nine rebounds. Juniors Brandon Simpson and Tyran Crawford added 10 points apiece.

Watkins Mill was led by Markel Grant with seven points while Jamie Castillo and Jeremy Cherokee added five points each.

The Screaming Eagles were too much for the Wolverines from the opening tip. Seneca jumped out to an early lead and were up 17-8 by the end of the first quarter, and never looked back. The Eagles had 11 of 10 players on the scoring sheet, including nine points from junior Kareem Matthew, and six each from senior Andrew Dantzler and sophomore Triston Price. Price hit two three-points in the effort. Seneca Valley continued their success from the foul line going 20-for-27, to shoot 74 percent.

The next challenge for Seneca Valley is a home game versus 2-6 Damascus this Friday. The Hornets are coming off of a 57-48 loss to Poolesville on Tuesday night but earned a hard fought victory over a Clarksburg last Friday.

The Seneca Valley girls did not fare as well Friday night as they continue to search for an elusive second victory. The Lady Eagles fell to Watkins Mill 43-25 on Tuesday night. The Seneca girls are on a three-game skid, going back to their Dec. 21 victory over Northwood. They will face a 6-2 Damascus girls team in Germantown on Friday night.
