Coyotes Top Blazers 64-48 to Remain Among Top Teams in MoCo
The Clarksburg Coyotes extended their win streak to three with a 64-48 home victory over the Blair Blazers on Monday night.
Blair came north to the Coyote Den with a record of 4-2 and were looking to get back to winning ways after falling to Whitman last Friday, but a 21 point game from Clarksburg junior Ian Krishnan ended those hopes. Krishnan started hot sinking two 3-pointers in the first quarter on his way to leading all scorers with 21 points in the game.
The Coyotes had three players finish in double-digits, Krishnan was followed by Andrew Kostecka and Jeff McInnis, who both added 11 points to the Coyote total. Dallas Marshall and Stephan Hamilton pitched in seven points apiece.
Clarksburg lead by just four at the half, 31-27, but pulled away thanks to their work on the foul line. The Coyotes shot 66 percent from the stripe, hitting 19 of 24 in the fourth quarter. All but two of their 21 fourth-quarter points came from the charity stripe.
The Blazers were led by Julius Cobb, who totaled 13 points in a losing effort.
With the win, Clarksburg extends their record to 5-1 and keeps pace with the leaders in Montgomery County. Blair falls to 4-2, and will face Springbrook next.
The Coyotes will head to the Quince Orchard Holiday Tournament over the break where they are expected to face Frederick and Avalon on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 28 and 29. After the break, they will travel up the hill to face Damascus at 5:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 8.
