Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on Sage Way
While MCPD detectives investigate the murder of an adult male, who was shot outside of a townhouse at 18630 Sage Way on Wednesday evening, neighbors say they have been waiting for something like to this to happen at that unit because it had become a drug den in recent months.
“That house has been a mess for a long time,” a neighbor told the Germantown Pulse, on the condition that she not give her name. “There have been drugs and other problems at that house. We’ve been waiting for something like this to happen.”
Fifth District-Germantown Police were called to the address at about 7:14 pm Wednesday night Dec. 16 for the report of gunshots. Arriving officers located an adult male outside of the residence with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, suffering from life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries, said police. Police have not identified the victim.
The shooter remains at large. Police could not release any information about the suspect. Police are investigating if this shooting is related to drug activity in the area, but were not able to narrow their focus at this time, said MCPD spokesman Capt. Paul Starks. He also said that investigators are looking into the possibility that there is some known association between the victim and suspect or suspects. Starks confirmed that MCPD had been called to the neighborhood for drug related issues in the past.
The neighbor told Germantown Pulse that after hearing eight to 10 gunshots, she walked to friend’s house and heard a man groaning in pain asking for help. He was lying on the ground outside the townhouse at 18630 Sage Way. She said the man had been shot in the leg, side, and chest. She said she w
