Maryland Comptroller to Visit Poolesville

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot will visit Poolesville on Friday morning prior to the Town’s Holiday Celebration with the lighting of the Christmas Tree Friday night.

In the morning, Franchot will take part in a roundtable discussion with town leaders to discuss the local economy, ongoing projects and future goals. During the meeting, the Comptroller will present a proclamation to Jim Brown, President of the Poolesville Town Commission, recognizing the municipality for its significant contributions to the state and its environmental leadership in Montgomery County.

Last month, Poolesville earned the Sustainable Maryland Certified designation in recognition of its commitment to an array of sustainability initiatives led by the Town government, residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Afterward, the Comptroller will take a walking tour of Fisher Avenue, visiting with business owners and customers. Franchot is scheduled to stop by Zaglio’s Bakery, Total Diesel and Automotive, Mooey’s Frozen Yogurt, Dollar General, The Blue Hearth and MainSpring Inc. The tour will end at Bassett’s Restaurant, where the Comptroller will join Brown, Chamber of Commerce President Hilary Schwab and Planning Commission President Cal Snead for lunch.

Later Friday evening, Poolesville will gather to celebrate the holiday season with the lighting of the Christmas Tree on Whalen Commons on Fisher Avenue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
