“It Sounded Like a Bomb,” Car Backs into Germantown House

November 13, 2015

"It sounded like a bomb went off,” said one neighbor after a car backed into a house in Germantown on Friday morning

Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service Units were called to 18807 Porterfield Way in Germantown after a car backed into the house shortly before 9:30 am.

The elderly driver, who is a neighbor, accidently jumped the curb, scraped a tree in front of the house and rammed the rear of her car into the corner of the attached garage near the front steps of the house.

The damage was so bad that Fire/Rescue personnel declared the house structurally unsound until a building inspector could get to the scene to make sure there was no danger to the residents, who were not home at the time of the accident. No one was injured, but as of 11:00 am occupants were not allowed back into the structure.
