As Playoffs Approach, Both Germantown High Schools End Season with Wins
Germantown continues to be a hotbed for football, as both Germantown teams have plans of going deep into the playoffs in 2015.
The Northwest Jaguars completed their regular season with a 49-7 dubbing of Wootton while their counterparts from just up Great Seneca Highway ended their season with a sound 35 victory over Gaithersburg.
Both teams have locked up playoff berths in their respective divisions. The Jags ended the season with a 7-3 record, in third place in the 4A West, while the Seneca Valley Screaming Eagles ended with a 9-1 record, in third place in the 3A West.
On Friday night, the Eagles hosted a Gaithersburg Trojan team that was playing for a playoff spot. Had Gaithersburg won they’d be playoff bound, however, Seneca Valley’s defense was having none of that. The Eagles intercepted three Carlin Bason passes in the first half, to maintain ball possession.
The first was by senior cornerback Zae Wright on the Seneca goal line, which stopped a potential scoring threat early in the first quarter. In the second quarter, senior safety James Chase stepped in front of a Bason pass. That pick led to a Seneca Valley touchdown. Junior running back Adrian Feliz-Platt would power into the end zone from the 12-yard line to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
