Standoff in Germantown Ends With Suicide



An armed standoff with a man who had barricaded himself in a Germantown residence ended with the man taking his own life, according to police. Montgomery County Police received a 911 call at 8:38 pm for a report of a possibly armed man in the 12300 block of Slivergate Way in Germantown. At 11:44 pm, on Thursday police said that the officers had entered the residence on Silvergate Way and located the male subject. “He had taken his own life,” said police via Twitter. The MCPD Emergency Response Team SWAT team was at the scene. MCPD was using Roberto Clemente Middle School’s parking lot as a command center/staging area. Police had traffic stopped in both direction along Wisteria Drive at Sky Blue Drive near Gunners Branch Lake and at Waring Station Road as this situation unfolded.
