Coyotes Fall in Battle of the ‘Burgs

After last week’s emotion victory over Urbana, the Clarksburg Coyotes were pumped to extend their two game winning streak, however an improving Gaithersburg team stood in the way. The Trojans would win the Battle of the Burgs beating the Coyotes 18-7 at in Clarksburg on Friday night.

Clarksburg’s touchdown came from a pass from quarterback Hunter Reimers to junior receiver Ian Krishnan who ran for a 59-yard touchdown late in the first half to give the Coyotes a 7-6 halftime lead.

However, the Trojans would score twice in the second half to claim the 18-7 victory and make things interesting in the 4A North division. With the victory, Gaithersburg and Clarksburg are both 4-3 for the season, as is Northwest after their loss to Quince Orchard on Friday night.

While the Richard Montgomery Rockets continue to have the best overall record in the 4A North Division at 6-1, their only loss at Northwest last week. The Jags have the upper hand in the division standings at 2-0 in the division, with Clarksburg, Gaithersburg, and Richard Montgomery all at 1-1, and Wootton at 0-2 in the division.

Clarksburg will have the chance to improve next week as they travel to Rockville to play 6-1 Richard Montgomery on Friday night. Richard Montgomery is coming off of a close game against Poolesville on Thursday night, which saw the Rockets winning 24-20. Gaithersburg will host 2-5 Wootton on Friday.
