Northwest Grounds High Flying Rockets

Emotions were high as the previously unbeaten Richard Montgomery Rockets came into Jaguar territory wanting to remain undefeated. It was not to be as the 3-2 Jaguars were able to redeem themselves with a 29-12 homecoming night victory, after the 16-13 loss to Sherwood last week.

Northwest’s Ty Richardson from sacked Richard Montgomery’s sophomore quarterback Spencer Silverstein, for a Safety, and suddenly Northwest has the momentum for the game and is in control. Jags lead 2-0.

Northwest’s junior running back Khalil Owens ran 4 yards for a touchdown near the end of the opening quarter to put the Jags up 9-0.

Mark Pierce seems to be finding his comfort level with a new crop of receivers, and it showed against Richard Montgomery. Pierce threw three touchdowns in the game. He found senior J.J. Funez twice – both times for 26 yard touchdowns in the second quarter. The senior Jaguar quarterback later threw a 28-yard touchdown strike to sophomore Alphonso Foray in the third quarter.
