Northwest Mauls Vikings, 42 - 7

The Northwest Jags were not gracious hosts as they mauled the Walt Whitman Vikings 42-7. The Jaguars refused to allow the Vikings to score until the last four minutes of the contest, while amassing a whopping 42 points.

The Jags got on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run from senior quarterback Mark Pierce early in the first quarter. The Jags would get the back after the junior defensive back Wesley McCormick intercepted a pass. McCormick would return it 55 yards for a touchdown, which was eventually called back on a holding penalty.

However, on the very next play, Pierce would hit freshman Juwon Farri for a 48 yard touchdown. Suddenly, its 14-0 Jaguars only five minutes into the game.

Khalil Owens would have Northwest in the end zone again after an interception return for touchdown in the end of the first quarter to put the Jags up 21-0. It was the Jag’s fourth interception of the first half.

The freshman phenom, Juwon Farri, would get his second touchdown of the game after an 85 yard run with 8:09 minutes remaining in the first half. Northwest was mauling the Vikings 28-0, who were coming off a 51-47 victory over Einstein last week.

The Jags would add a touchdown from sophomore backup quarterback Chris Craddock to take a 35-0 lead into halftime. Craddock would help extend the Jag’s lead with a 38-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Elijah Eversley.

Next week Northwest will be on the road as they will take on unbeaten Sherwood. The Warriors are coming off a 40-20 drubbing of Springbrook, and have wins over Clarksburg, Magruder and Bethesda-Chevy Chase.
