Police Report Two Muggings in Central Germantown

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from Sept. 7 through Sept. 15.

Montgomery County Police are reporting that two individuals were robbed by groups of individuals in Germantown within a week of each other.

The first mugging, which police term a strong-armed robbery, occurred in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive at 7:30 pm, on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The mugging which took place in a residential area. The victim was walk along the street when he was approach from behind and surrounded by four unidentified black males, of undetermined age. He was assaulted and robbed of his cellphone, wallet and cash.

The second mugging victim was assaulted and robbed as he was leaving the Shisha Lounge, a Hooka bar in the Germantown Plaza shopping mall located at 13063 Wisteria Drive. According to police, at 2:00 am early Tuesday morning on Sept. 15. As the victim was leaving the Shisha Lounge he approached by a group of three unidentified black males, of undetermined age. The group attacked him and stole his wallet and cash.

Police also reported two commercial burglaries took place in the Germantown area.

The first incident occurred at the Panera Bread restaurant located at 19965 Century Boulevard at 10:41 pm Sunday, Sept. 13. Police report that in this instance there was no forced entry but property was stolen from the location.

Another commercial burglary took place on Luther Contracting located at 28711 Clarksburg Road in the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 14. There was no forced entry and property was stolen.

MCPD reported one residential burglary in the 25100 block of Silver Crest Drive on Thursday, Sept. 10 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm. Again there was no forced entry, but property was stolen from the residence.

Montgomery County Police from the Fifth District in Germantown continue to deal with criminals stealing property from vehicles and urge residents to lock their vehicles at night.

MCPD reported three thefts from vehicles which occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 8 on Winterspoon Land. Police said these thefts were from unlocked cars or open windows. Property and cash were taken.

Police also reported six thefts from vehicles during the early morning hours of Sept. 10. Police said there were five vehicles which were entered through unlocked doors or windows on Woodfield Road and another on Valley Park Terrace.

Police also reported multiple thefts from vehicles between Sept. 10 and Sept. 11. The affected streets include Metz Drive, Metz Court, Mill House Court and Bayberry Drive in Germantown. Again all of these thefts were from vehicles in which the doors were unlocked or windows were open. Property and cash were taken.
