Poolesville Day Expected to Draw Over 10,000 Visitors

Poolesville is small town America in Montgomery County. Nestled in the westernmost portion of the County, Poolesville has a population of just over 5,000 but that will double this Saturday at the town celebrates its 23rd Annual Poolesville Day Festival.

Poolesville Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

However, this year on Friday, Sept. 18, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot will visit the Town of Poolesville. The comptroller will meet with members of the Town Commission to discuss local and state issues. Afterward, he will join Town commissioners and others for a walking tour of the town from 11:00 am to noon to meet various merchants and then have lunch at Bassett’s Restaurant.

Poolesville Day, on Saturday will feature a wide variety of activities for the whole family, including a morning parade, more than 100 food and art vendor booths, a car and motorcycle show, and live entertainment throughout the day.

In recent years, Poolesville Day has attracted attendees from all over Montgomery County, Frederick County and the greater Washington, D.C. area. The event, which is held rain or shine, begins at 10:00 am with the Hometown Poolesville Parade. A 5K run sponsored by the Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce precedes the event at 8:00 am. More than 150 artisans, exhibitors, service and food vendors are expected to be supporting Poolesville Day.

Live entertainment will be presented on five stages by a variety of local musicians, dancers, and community and school groups, headlined by The Hardin Draw Band. Another highlight of the day will be the Classic Car, Rod, and Truck Show held from noon to 3:15 p.m. and a new Green Electric Cars Show.
