Resident Publishes Book of Poetry

Germantown resident Shermell K. Ward has published a book of poems which has been released by RoseDog Books.

   In her book of poems, “Compositions of Me,” Ward explores the depth and wonder of human emotions. “The human heart that yearns for passionate love, faithfulness, intimacy, but instead rent asunder time and again by deceit, faithlessness, even violence, perhaps, make up the supreme ironies of life,” according to press release which describes Ward’s poems.

   Ward's poems also depict dreamlike lines pertaining to the Katrina hurricane, as well as the violence and poverty prevailing on the streets of Africa, according to the publisher.

   Ward is a native of Philadelphia, but grew up in many part of the United States, which has given her many experiences and a diverse upbringing. She now living in Germantown with her son. She continues to strive for awareness in the community by speaking at various events empowering women to learn, leave their past behind, and focus on their future. Her hobbies are writing, reading, exercising, traveling, and continually gaining new profound knowledge, spiritual growth, and rebirths.

   "Compositions of Me" is a 42-page paperback with a retail price of $9.00. It was published by RoseDog Books.
