Gas Station Robbed by Armed, Masked Man



Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from July 20 through August 4.

The Liberty Gas Station in the Henderson’s Corner shopping area at 21101 Frederick Road was robbed by an armed masked man on Thursday, July 30. According to MCPD, a black man of unknown age entered the convenience store at the gas station wearing a mask. The masked man displayed a handgun and demanded money. Police say the clerk explained that he did not have access to the safe and could not get the money cash. The armed assailant then stole cigarettes and other goods from the store before fleeing the area.

Montgomery County Police reported six residential burglaries in the Germantown area between July 20 and August 4.

The first residential burglary took place in the 25500 block of Joy Lane on evening of Monday, July 27 between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Police report that there was no forced entry, but property was stolen.

Another residential burglary occurred in the 11400 block of Seneca Forest Circle in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 28. No forced entry; property and cash were taken.

The third residential burglary occurred in the 12300 block of Milestone Manor Lane on Thursday afternoon, July 30 between 3:15 pm and 3:35 pm. No forced entry; property was taken.

A fourth residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of Stags Leap Court on Friday, July 31 between 12:40 pm. to 12:50 pm. No forced entry; property was taken.

The fifth residential burglary occurred in the 12100 block of Island View Circle at an unknown time between Friday, July 31 and Sunday, Aug. 2. No forced entry; property was taken.

A sixth Germantown-area residential burglary occurred in the 18500 block of Split Rock Lane at an unknown time between Sunday, Aug. 3 and Monday, Aug. 4. No forced entry; property and cash were taken.

Montgomery County Police have arrested a 25-year-old Germantown man in connection with a theft from vehicles that occurred between Friday, July 24 and Monday, July 27 on Winterspoon Lane in Germantown.

Police report four additional thefts from vehicles between July 24 and July 27. The affected streets include Wyman Way, Wedgeport Lane, Larkspur Court, and Larentia Drive. Police do not believe the man they arrested is connected to these thefts from vehicles.

MCPD reported three additional thefts from vehicles occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 28 in the following areas: In the 19200 block of Deep Run Court. No force; property and cash were taken. In the 19200 block of Saint Johnsbury Lane. Unknown entry; property was taken. In the 11700 block of Trophy Court. No force; nothing was taken.

Police say that thieves hit multiple vehicles on many of the same streets a week later. The thefts from vehicles occurred at an unknown time between Friday, July 31and Monday, Aug, 3. Police say in all cases there was no force, but property and cash were taken. Affected streets again included Wyman Way, and two incidents on Larentia Drive, as well as Winterspoon Lane. Police reported additional thefts from vehicles on Black Saddle Lane and Cross Ridge Way. It is unknown if the incidents are related.

Commander David Gillespie of the District Five in Germantown recently reminded residents to be sure to lock car doors, don’t leave valuables in view, and be sure to shut garage doors at night.

MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred, and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on Aug. 10.
