One Dead, Five Injured in Head-On Collision in Boyds

One person has died, and five others were seriously injured after a head-on collision at the intersection of Darnestown Road and White’s Ferry Road on Tuesday night, according to Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer.

The crash occurred shortly before 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening, August 4. Two people suffered serious injuries in the accident and were airlifted to a trauma hospital with priority trauma. Two other occupants of the car were transported to local hospitals with priority two trauma while two others were taken to the hospital with priority three trauma. In all six EMS units and two helicopters were called to the scene, according to fire officials.

Police have closed Route 28 (Darnestown Road) while the MCPD Collision Reconstruction Unit investigates the cause of the crash. WUSA9 is reporting that a preliminary investigation suggests that an SUV crossed the center line into the path of a sedan.
