Detectives from Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a single vehicle, single occupant collision that took the life of a Mount Airy man Tuesday night. The collision occurred in the 26600 block of Clarksburg Road, Tuesday night in the 9:00 pm hour.

On July 28 at approximately 9:24 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a call for a single vehicle collision that had just occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle, a 2007 Ford Fusion, lost control and collided with a utility pole. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver identified as Richard Pliszak, age 54, of the 4500 block of Roop Road in Mount Airy, Maryland was pronounced deceased.

Clarksburg Road was closed for about five hours between Prices Distillery Road and Barnes Road last night as investigators from the Collision Reconstruction Unit remained on the scene. The road opened shortly before 2:00 am Wednesday morning.
