Teenager Arrested in Connection with School Break-in

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from July 6 through July 14.

   Police have arrested a 14-year-old Germantown boy in connection with a burglary at Christa McAuliffe Elementary School at 12500 Wisteria Drive in Germantown. According to police, two white male suspects entered the school at about 10:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, setting off alarms and activing security equipment. The boys forced their way into the school through a door. One youth was arrested, police continue to investigate the incident and search for the second youth

   Police are looking into the possibility of an employee being involved with a commercial burglary which took place at the Germantown Community Center in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 12. Police say that two cash registers form the community center at 18905 Kingsview Road were dumped near the neighboring Germantown Outdoor Pool. Police are investigating if an employee used a key to gain access to the community center.

   Montgomery County Police say at couple was robbed at gunpoint in Poolesville between 2:00 am and 4:00 am on Monday, July 6. According to police, the events of the crime started in Frederick County, where a man and woman accepted a ride from two other men. Eventually, they ended up at the intersection of White’s Ferry Road and Martinsburg Road in Poolesville, where one the men offering the ride pulled a 45-calibar handgun on the couple and demanded their wallets and cash. Police believe that the couple knew their assailant.

   MCPD report a residential burglary in the 23000 block of Birch Mead Road occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 7. No forced entry but chase and property were stolen.

   Another resident burglary took place in the 20000 block of Anndyke Way on Wednesday, July 8 between 5:30 am and 8:00 am. No forced entry and nothing was taken.

   Other criminal activity of note in the Germantown area according to the Montgomery County Open Data Crime Report:

   Police reported an Assault & Battery took place on Scenery Drive in Germantown on July 11 at 10:16 pm.

   Assault & Battery at the gas station 19800 Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown on July 11 at 8:53 pm.

   Assault & Battery on 21200 Bunyan Circle in Germantown on July 13 at 4:58 pm.

   Auto Theft of passenger vehicle from 19500 Amaranth Drive from the car dealership on July 13 at 12:32 pm.

   Auto Theft of passenger vehicle from 18600 Winding Creek Place in Germantown on July 14 at 10:14 pm.

   Sex Assault at 12200 Eagles Nest Court in Germantown on July 15 at 1:27 am

   MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on July 23.
