Youth Arrested After Using Knife to Steal Bicycle
Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from June 29 through July 7.
Montgomery County Police have arrested a 17-year-old Germantown boy after he pulled a knife on an acquaintance to steal his bike. Police say the incident occurred Thursday evening July 2 at 7:20 pm in the 19000 block of Frederick Avenue. According to police, the victim and the suspect know each other and were talking. At some point the suspect said that he wanted the victim’s bicycle and showed him a knife. The suspect threatened to use the knife if the victim didn’t surrender the bike. The suspect, a black male, 17, was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
MCPD are looking for three black male suspect that stole property from a female in the 13000 block of Ansel Terrace. According to police, the suspects were known to the victim, however the victim did not cooperate by providing a names or detailed descriptions of the assailants. Police say the incident took place in the lobby of the apartment building. The victim was assaulted by three black males, one of the suspects displayed a handgun. They stole her wallet, cell phone and cash. Police later recovered the wallet emptied of its contents.
Police report eight residential burglaries in the Germantown area between June 30 and July 7. The first residential burglary occurred in the 18000 block of Bayleaf Way on June 30 at 11:00 pm. Forced entry; nothing taken.
Another residential burglary occurred in the 19000 block of Gunner’s Branch Road between 10:00 pm on July 1 and 1:00 am on July 2. No forced entry; nothing taken. MCPD is looking for a black male in his late 20s in connection with this incident.
MCPD says another residential burglary occurred in the 19000 block of Zinnia Circle between 8:00 pm on July 3 and 1:00 am on July 4. Forced entry; property taken.
A residential burglary occurred in the 20000 block of Wynnfield Drive on July 3 between 1:00 am and 10:00 am. Forced entry; nothing taken.
Police say another break-in occurred in the 20000 block of Appledowre Circle at an unknown time over the weekend of July 3 to July 5. Forced entry; property taken.
A residential burglary occurred in the 18000 block of Smoke House Court in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5. Forced entry; property taken.
Lastly, police say another residential burglary occurred in the 23000 block of Birch Meade Road in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 7. No forced entry; property taken.
MCPD report a commercial burglary at the rental office of the Seneca Club Apartments at 18065 Cottage Garden Drive at an unknown time between Thursday, July 2 and Saturday, July 4. Forced entry; nothing taken.
Two thefts from vehicles occurred on Friday, July 3 between 1:00 am and 11:00 am. no force; but property taken. Affected streets include Timber Oak Lane and Walnutwood Court.
MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on July 17.
