Hoggle Remains Incompetent to Stand Trial

Catherine Hoggle, the mother of two missing Clarksburg children, was in court Friday for a status hearing and remains incompetent to stand trial.

It was reported yesterday that a Montgomery County judge ruled Friday that Hoggle, who has been held at the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center for mental illness since begin captured, remains incompetent to stand trial. However, it was reported that the judge said he believes that her mental capabilities could be restored to a point where she could stand trial at some point in the future.

Hoggle is currently facing misdemeanor charges of child neglect and obstructing and hindering an investigation after going missing in Germantown with her two young children, Jacob, and Sarah, in September of 2014. The children remain missing, and Montgomery County Police, and the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office continue to pursue homicide charges against Hoggle. Those new charges if filed, would move the case from the District Court to the Circuit Court, but those charges have yet to be filed.

The judge set another status hearing for Sept. 18 in Maryland District Court. However, he also ordered that if Hoggle was to become competent prior to Sept. 18 that a trial on the charges of child neglect would proceed immediately, it was reported.

Friends and family members of the missing children continue to search for the toddlers. Earlier this week, the FindSarahFindJacob FaceBook page reported that there was a possible siting of the toddlers on Monday, July 6 at the airport in Toledo, OH. The toddlers were reportedly getting off a flight from Punta Gorda, FL, according to FindSarahFindJacob Facebook page. The sighting has not be confirmed by any law enforcement agency
