Huntmaster Road Bridge to Reopen Friday
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation announced via Twitter that Huntmaster Road will reopen for traffic tomorrow, Friday, July 10.
The road has been closed since late April when the County began replacing in the deck and resurfacing the road on the small one-lane bridge, which traverses Great Seneca Creek, on Huntmaster Road near Davis Mill Road.
In April, the MCDOT estimated that the work would take five weeks, weather permitting, and then in early May the MCDOT said the work would need to be extended through May. The total work required 12 weeks.
According to Ester Bowring, Community Relations Manager with the MCDOT, “When the bridge deck was removed to repair the bridge beams, the damage was much more extensive than anticipated. So, Highway Services had to actually replace the bridge beams instead of repairing them, which took more time. Just like any renovation project, you never know exactly what you will find once you begin the project.”
