The BlackRock Center for Arts will continue its Free Summer Concert Series tomorrow with the funk brass sounds of the No BS! Brass.
No BS! Brass will play at 7:00 pm on Saturday, July 4 on the lawn in front of BlackRock on Century Boulevard in Germantown. No BS! Brass takes the New Orleans brass band spirit into uncharted territory, combining elements of James Brown, John Coltrane, Michael Jackson, and Led Zeppelin into their original East Coast modern funk sound.
Next week, Saturday, July 11, BlackRock presents Matuto, at 7:00 pm as the Summer Concert Series rolls on.
Drawing on Northeastern Brazil’s folkloric rhythms like forró, maracatu, or coco, and on deep Americana—from bluegrass to spirituals to swampy Louisiana jams—Matuto (a Northeastern Brazilian slang term for “bumpkin”) uses unexpected Pan-American sounds to craft fun and rootsy music. The result? Rolling drums and quicksilver accordion licks, earthy vibes and thoughtful reflections mingle on the latest refinement of their Appalachia-gone-Afro-Brazilian sound.
All Summer Concerts will be performed on the BlackRock front lawn, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will move inside to the BlackRock Mainstage
