Early Morning Fire Displaces Eight

June 25, 2015

Firefighters were called to a Germantown home early Thursday morning for a house fire in the 11400 block of Staten Court.

The fire broke out about 2:30 am on Thursday morning. Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services arrived at the two-story single-family home to find smoke coming from the roof, according MCFRS senior spokesman Pete Piringer. A smoke alarm alerted the family of four adults and four children to the fire which appears to have started near the air conditioning unit and extended into the house. All the occupants were able to escape the house safely.

More than 50 firefighters were called to battle the fire which is estimated to have done more than $50,000 to the house, according to Piringer. No one was injured and the fire appears to have been accidental in nature according to fire officials.
