Driver Arrested After Attempting to Hit Cop With Car During Traffic Stop

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from June 1 through June 9.

    Montgomery County Police have arrested a Germantown woman and charged her with assault on a police officer after she tried to him the police officer with her car.

    The incident began as an early morning traffic stop in the area of Germantown Road and Richter Farm Road in Germantown at about 3:00 am on Thursday, June 4, when an on-duty Montgomery County Police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on suspicion of drunk driving.

   When the officer approached the vehicle the 22-year-old white female driver became angry and attempted to hit him with her car. The officer was not injured and the driver was placed under arrest.

   MCPD is also reporting an early morning street robbery of a woman while she walked in the area of Wisteria Drive and Father Hurley Boulevard on Thursday, June 4. Police say the woman was walking and had her backpack stolen by a man who came up on her from behind. Police say the man was following her for a while and he suddenly approached her, grabbed her backpack and ran off. The suspect is described as an adult black male, in his 20s or 30s wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

    Fifth District Police report three residential burglaries in the Germantown area between June 5 and June 7. The first burglary occurred in the 14000 block of Gallop Terrace on Friday, June 5 between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. There was no forced entry and property was taken from the residence.

   The second residential burglary took place later in the evening on Friday, June 5 on the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm. In this case, there was forced entry and property was taken. Police are looking for two black males, ages 23 and 27, in connection with this incident.

   The third residential burglary occurred in the 11300 block of Stevenson Drive in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 6. Police report that there was forced entry, but nothing was taken in this incident.

   MCPD report seven thefts from vehicles which occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 6 on Mateny Hill Road and Summit Ridge In all cases, there was no forced entry.

   Additionally, police report multiple thefts from vehicles which occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, June 8. Affected streets include Crystal Rock Drive, Summer Oak Road, Locbury Drive, Falling Water Circle, Furtura Court, and Emerald Drive.

   MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on June 18.
