UPDATE: Teen Arrested With BB Gun Near Middle School

June 3, 2015

Dismissal at Kingsview Middle School in Germantown was delayed for about a 30 minutes due to a report of a gunshot near school grounds.

According to police, at approximately 2:37 pm on Wednesday the Emergency Communications Center received a call for a person with a gun near Kingsview Middle School in Germantown. A witness reported seeing a person with a gun and then hearing a “pop” in the area of Kingsview Road at Duhart Road. The witness then reported seeing that person cross Kingsview Middle School property.

Several officers responded to the area and a lookout was placed, according to police. A juvenile matching the description was stopped at the 7-11 located at 18701 Liberty Mill Road. A semi-automatic handgun replica BB gun was found in his possession. The 15-year-old male juvenile was placed under arrest. He is being charged with reckless endangerment. No injuries related to this incident have been reported.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police non-emergency dispatch at 301-279-8000.  Callers may remain anonymous.

At 2:57 pm, Kingsview Middle School Principal Jimmy D’Andrea tweeted, “Dismissal is delayed due to police activity in the neighborhood.” A few minutes later at 3:03 pm, D’Andrea tweeted that “Students are being dismissed at this time. Thanks for your patience and understanding.” As a result of the delay, school buses were released to complete their regular elementary school drop-offs and students on busses were held at the school while they waited for the buses to return.
