The collision took place shortly after 10:00 pm Sunday night. Officers from the 5th District in Germantown and MCFRS personnel responded for the report of a pedestrian struck near North Frederick Road and Gunners Branch Road. First responders located an unconscious adult male on the right side of the northbound lanes at 19601 North Frederick Road. He was transported to a local trauma center where he remains in critical condition, according to MCPD.

Police said that a preliminary investigation determined that the 37-year-old victim was crossing east across northbound Route 355 from the median, when for reasons still under investigation, he was struck in the northbound lanes by a silver, 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan which was traveling north on Route 355. The driver of the minivan remained on the scene and provided information to investigators.

The driver of the minivan is being identified as James Kellogg McHenry of the 10700 block of Wayridge Drive in Montgomery Village. Police will release the pedestrian’s identity after family members are notified.
