Jags Thompson & Notari Combine for Nine Goals to Defeat Trojans
The Northwest lacrosse team took another step towards getting rid of the ghosts which lingered around after last year’s disappointing season as they defeated Gaithersburg, 13-6 Monday night in Germantown.
The Jags were led by Hunter Thompson’s five goals and Cole Notari’s four goals. Thompson got the scoring started just very early as he sliced a shot past Gaithersburg’s goalie Angel Rivera just 14 seconds into the game to put the Jags up 1-0.
The Jags came into Monday’s game looking for their second win of the young season, after opening with a 9-16 loss at Poolesville, then defeating cross-town rivals Seneca Valley 10-6. The Jags then dropped two in row, to Churchill, 4-15, and Quince Orchard, 2-20. With Monday’s win, the Jags improve their record to 2-3, and are now 1-1 in the division.
Thompson would put in his second goal with 7:52 remaining in the first. The senior would finish with five goals on seven shots, and one assist.
“He is definitely capable of doing that,” said Northwest Head Coach Jon Kravits of Hunter Thompson’s five goal performance. “He is a returning captain and one of the more skilled players on our roster and he is a leader. He did have a few goals and assists leading up to this game, but his performance today was probably his best in terms of points.”
