Maryland State Police are investigating the circumstances of how a man was struck and killed in the southbound lanes of I-270 in Germantown early Wednesday morning.
According to Pete Piringer, chief spokesman for MCFRS, the man was struck by a tractor-trailer truck at about 1:30 am on Wednesday, March 18 just north of Germantown Road in the southbound lanes of I-270.
MyMCmedia.org is reporting that a Nissan Xterra was stopped on the right shoulder of the highway. The truck driver noticed the parked vehicle, and when he looked back he saw a man walking in one of the traffic lanes. The truck driver was unable to avoid the man and subsequently struck the man. The truck driver pulled over to the right shoulder and called 9-1-1, MyMCmedia.org reported. The incident remains under investigation.
