Ice Storm Closes Schools, Causes Delays

If it is Monday… It must be a snow day.

   Another Sunday snow/ice storm has wreaked havoc with the Monday morning in the Germantown area.

   The storm which dumped snow a few inches of snow, before changing to sleet, freezing rain, and ice on the Germantown area has closed Montgomery County Public Schools are closed today , March 2.  All school and community activities in school buildings also are canceled.

   MCPS administrative offices will open two hours late. Day care programs in school buildings may open at 10:30 am.

   This is the fifth snow day of the school year, which will cause MCPS to extend the school year by one day.

   Montgomery College has announced that it will open at noon, due the weather conditions. The Campus Shuttle Service will run from Rockville to TP/SS at noon and 12:45 p.m. Germantown will operate its posted 11:30 am run and add a 12:30 pm run with Rockville adding a noon run back to Germantown. The shuttle will operate on its regular schedule as of 1:00 pm.

   Montgomery County government offices will open at 10:00 am this morning due to dangerous road conditiions. All MoCo Recreation programs/activities canceled today. Senior centers closed. Recreation centers open at 10:30 am for drop in activities.

   Federal offices will open two-hours late due to road conditions after the storm.
