Once the Board of Education put the bell-times issue to bed at Tuesday’s meeting, the Board awarded a number contracts for work to be done at Germantown area schools as part of its consent agenda.

The Board approved a $1.5 million contract to Gaithersburg-based Interstate Corp. for the reroofing project at Roberto W. Clemente Middle School. In the resolution the Board indicated that Interstate Corp was the low bidder for the project and met the Maryland Department of Transportation Minority Business Enterprise criteria. Interstate has submitted certification that the company is 20 percent owned by women.

The Board also approved a fee increase for the architectural firm which is designing the proposed revitalization of Seneca Valley High School.

Gaithersburg-based Moseley Architects was granted an increased fee of $412,725 for additional professional architectural and engineering services for the increased scope of the Seneca Valley High School revitalization project. The scope of the work increased when the Board approved an additional 17 classrooms.
