Snow Closes MoCo Schools, Snarls Traffic

While the Blizzard of 2015 didn’t drop 30-plus inches of snow on Montgomery County it did manage to put enough white stuff on the ground to close Montgomery County Schools today, Tuesday, Jan. 27.
"All school and community activities in school buildings also are canceled,” said MCPS spokesman Dana Tofig. “Administrative offices will open two hours late. Day care programs in school buildings may open at 10:30 am.”
Montogmery County government and facilities will open at 10:00 am today, according to the county Twitter account. The 311 Call Center open and taking calls.
Montgomery Recreaction will open at 10:00 am. All regularly scheduled activities are canceled today. Facilities will open for drop in only.
Montgomery College also announced it would be opening at 12:00 pm on Tuesday.
The snow also created havoc on I-270 in Montgomery County just north of Germantown as I-270 southbound was closed for some time this morning due to a collision involving two vehicles and a jack-knifed tractor-trailer. The incident happen near exit 22 at about 4:30 am, southbound traffic had been diverted Route 109 (Old Hundred Road), according to MCFRS spokesman Pete Piringer.
