Germantown-based Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Named Andrew P. Russell to the post of president and chief executive officer. As CEO, Russell will also serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Mid-Atlantic Financial Partners, LLC's Credit Union Service Organization.
Russell began his banking career in 1994 in Louisville, Kentucky, later joining PNC Bank in 2001 where he served as executive vice president, and head of the business banking group of the Greater Washington D.C. Since then, Russell has also served as executive vice president, director of the business bank wholesale group in Georgia and Florida, CertusBank and senior vice president and corporate relationship manager BBVA Compass prior to taking on his role as president and CEO of MAFCU this year.
As a former member of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Reserves, and a seasoned veteran of the private banking industry, Russell aims to use his expertise in banking and service to the community to further strengthen MAFCU's presence in the region.

I am honored for the opportunity to lead MAFCU and to join the credit union movement which is all about enhancing our communities and members experience in a safe, sound, and secure manner," said Russell.
Service to the community has been a priority for Russell throughout his career. "I am a firm believer that leaders with a sense of civic engagement give back to the community and show the way for others in creating a better future for all. The MAFCU team has and will continue to serve, give back, and contribute to the Montgomery County Region."
Russell received his bachelor's degree from The University of the State of New York and a master's degree from Troy State University. He is Venezuelan-American, a former member of the United States Navy, and a retired Captain in the field of Armor with the United States Army Reserves.
