The Northwest gym played host to two girls varsity basketball teams and there was only one senior in uniform for either team on Friday night in Germantown.

Clarksburg’s junior heavy-team has more experience than the Lady Jags, who carry just three juniors on a roster made up of five sophomores and one freshman.

The lack of experience showed as Clarksburg beat up the Lady Jags 64-32.

Clarksburg’s three double-digits performances were too much for the young Jaguars. Clarksburg was led by junior Jamiere Jefferies 16 points. The other players in double-digits for Clarksburg were junior Gabriella Haddad with 15 points and freshmen Phylicia McInnis who had 12 points. The win improves Clarksburg’s record to 5-6 overall and 4-1 in the division.

The young Lady Jaguars continue to search for their first win of the season. But that is not to say there isn’t hope for the future on this team. Sophomore guard Samantha Sekscienski looked confident running the floor while turning in a 12 point-performance to lead the Jaguars in scoring. Junior guard Celine Jordan contributed 10 points to the losing effort, while freshman Thara Janus had nine-points. The one senior in the game, Northwest’s Alexis Chase rounded out the scoring with one point from the foul line.

The 0-11 Lady Jags will host 8-1 Walter Johnson on Tuesday and 5-3 Sherwood on Friday night.

Clarksburg will travel to 3-6 Springbrook on Tuesday and hit the road again Friday for a date with 5-4 Bethesda-Chevy Chase.
