The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Wednesday morning January 14 from 4:00 am until noon. Snow may start between 4:00 am and 6:00 am and continue late into the morning hours, according to NWS.
However, MoCoSnow.com believes that up-county areas of Montgomery County like Germantown, Gaithersburg, Clarksburg and Damascus may not get any snow since the storm is expected to pass more into the southeastern portions of the county and Washington DC.
“The Southeastern part of the county may see an inch of snow,” says MoCoSnow.com, “but I think the northwestern part of the county may only see flurries. Sure, there’s a chance we see up to an inch in the northwest part and maybe two in the southeast part, but I don’t think so.”
MoCoSnow.com’s final prediction for Wednesday morning is One Pencil which means that there is a really good chance school will start on time. “Do not count on a delay or closing.”
The Maryland State Highway Administration urged motorist to closely monitor weather forecasts. In preparation for the predicted weather, SHA crews have been pre-treating major roads and interstates with salt brine as an initial measure to prevent snow accumulation.
