Germantown Resident a Standout at Salisbury University

January 14, 2015

Germantown resident Anna Hackett was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference, Division III South Women’s Basketball Player of Week, after she scored 55 points over three games for Salisbury University Seagulls.

Hackett is a senior, who played high school basketball at Clarksburg High School is becoming one of the greatest players in Salisbury history and has been a big part of the Seagulls run to the number 18 ranking among Division III women’s basketball programs.

Hackett’s 55-point week through two games last week, allowed her to jump four spots on the all-time scoring list to number 3 with 1,507 career points. Hackett needs 34 points to take over the number 2 spot.

For the season, the Germantown, native is shooting 48 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from behind the three-point line, and 88 percent from the free-throw line. Averaging 20.5 points per game, Hackett has helped lead the Gulls to a 12-1 overall record and a 6-0 tally in the Capital Athletic Conference, the only unblemished record in the league.

Hackett and the Gulls look to remain undefeated in the conference on tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 14 as Marymount (Va.) University travels to Salisbury.
