Police Identify Man Struck By Train in Germantown
Montgomery County Police have released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by a CSX train in Germantown on Jan. 2.
The victim has been identified as William Alexander Buendia Rodriguez, 20, of the 18900 block of Pine Ridge Lane in Germantown. Although no foul play is suspected, detectives from the Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the incident.
At approximately 1:37 am on Jan. 2, officers form the 5th District in Germantown responded to the report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a train on the tracks located in the area of the Germantown MARC station located at 19330 Mateny Hill Road in Germantown. For reasons still under investigation, the victim as in the area of the tracks when he was struck by a train. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
A CSX spokesperson told NBC4 News, that the striking train had two locomotives and 28 cars, and was carrying a variety of freight. The train had originated in the Brunswick area of Maryland and was making local stops to customers in the area.
