Seneca Valley High School Presents ‘The Matchmaker’ This Weekend

December 4, 2014

The Seneca Valley High School Performing Arts will present Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker this weekend.  Performances begin tonight Thursday, Dec. 4, 5, and 6  at 7:00 pm with a matinee on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are available for presale for $5, regular price is $8 for adults and $5 for students. For more information and tickets visit the Website.

The Matchmaker is the none musical version of the Dolly Gallagher Levi story. The story would later become the plot of Hello Dolly. In the Wilder's play, Dolly Gallagher Levi is the play's centerpiece. A widow who brokers marriages and other transactions in Yonkers, New York at the turn of the 20th century, she sets her sights on local merchant Horace Vandergelder, who has hired her to find him a wife. After a series of slapstick situations involving mistaken identities, secret rendezvous behind carefully placed screens, separated lovers, and a trip to night court, everyone finds themselves paired with a perfect match.
