Britt Eckerstrom, of Germantown, a redshirt junior at Penn State University has been named a Big Ten Women’s Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her performances in wins against Minnesota and No. 13 Wisconsin, according to Penn State University.
Eckerstrom, a 2010 graduate of Northwest High School, recorded clean sheets in both of No. 7 Penn State's games this weekend. The wins extended Penn State's perfect Big Ten record to 7-0.

While at Northwest, she was a member of the track and field team, where she was a two-time All-American during the 2010 track season, and earned six Maryland state track titles in indoor and outdoor track. She was a member and team captain of FC Frederick from 2004-2010, and reached the Maryland State Cup finals in 2010. Eckerstrom was a member of the U.S. Womens National Soccer U-17 Team in 2009.
