Jaguars Juggernaut Steamrolls Trojans
By Kevin O’Rourke
The Northwest Jaguars ridded themselves of what Head Coach Michael Nuebeiser called “bitterness in our mouth” from last year’s defeat at the hands of the Gaithersburg Trojans with a 49-0 steamrolling of Gaithersburg on Friday night.
The Jags juggernaut scored early and often Friday night. Quarterback Mark Pierce (11) would hook up with wide receiver Jamar Wilson (1) for touchdowns four times, the first just 52 seconds into the game. They would do it twice more before the end of the first quarter to stake the Jags with a 21-0 lead.
The Pierce and Wilson show would perform an encore 45 seconds into the second quarter for Jags’ fourth touchdown.
With less than five minutes left in the half, the third weapon in the Jags’ arsenal, E.J. Lee (23), got the first of his two touchdowns on the night with three-yard touchdown.
The Jaguars would score in the first minute of the third quarter after the Trojans attempted an on-side kick, which was recovered by Northwest. The ensuing possession resulted in Lee scoring his second touchdown on a 23 yard run from scrimmage to give the Jaguars a 41-0 lead. Northwest attempted a two-point conversion which failed.
Northwest enjoyed yet another shortened fourth quarter as the running clock was in effect. However, that didn’t stop the Jags from putting more points on the board, this time from the defense, as Troy Lefeged (7)stepped in front of Gaithersburg’s Clarence “Petey” Gaskins pass for a pick six that would end the scoring and complete the 49-0 rout.
The Jags will bring the 4-0 Pierce-Wilson & Lee Show on the road next week to face the 1-3 Blake High School Bengals next Thursday night. Blake is coming off a 44-0 mauling by the Clarksburg Cougars on Friday night.

Next: Northwest freshman running back Juwon Farri (34) leaves Gaithersburg linebacker Tyrik Etheridge (33) on the ground as he runs for positive yards late in the game.
