County Holds Vaccination Clinics for Seventh Graders


New immunization requirements for seventh graders enrolled in Montgomery County Public Schools have gone into effect this year. Parents of seventh graders must get their students vaccinated this week or they will not be allowed back at school on Monday, Sept. 15, according to MCPS.

The requirements announced earlier this year require students to have one Tdap (Tetanus-diphtheria-attenuated pertussis) and one meningococcal (MCV4) vaccination.

“Currently we have more than 2,000 students who have not provided proof that they have had the required immunizations,” said County Health Officer Dr. Ulder J. Tillman. “There are multiple opportunities for parents to get their children vaccinated if they have not already done so.”

Free Tdap and MCV4 vaccinations are available each day this week at various locations throughout Montgomery County. There are daytime clinics and evening clinics to help accommodate family schedules.

Any seventh grade student who needs the TDAP and MCV vaccines, regardless of which school they attend, may attend one of the following clinics from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. A copy of the child’s immunization record must be presented to the clinic staff in order to
