Dr. Pinkney to Mark Civil Rights Act Anniversary

Dr. Hercules Pinkney, president emeritus of Montgomery College will speak as part of the Frank Islam Athenauem Symposia on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7:00 pm.

   The Symposia will present “The 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964: The Personal Reflections of Dr. Pinkney.

   During the Civil Rights Movement, Pinkney participated in protests for the protection of black voters from police brutality. He was named Educator of the Year by the African American Chamber of Commerce and was named by Leadership Montgomery as County Leader of the Year in 2010. Presently, he serves as Executive Leadership Advisor of Elaunchers.com.

   The event is free and open to the public, and will take place in Room BE151 of the Bioscience Education Center on the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College. For more information visit the website
