SV Boys Soccer Falls to Defending Champs

By Kevin O’Rourke
The Seneca Valley High School boys varsity soccer team dropped their opening game to defending division champions, on the road at Wheaton High School on Saturday, by a score of 3-4. Both teams battled each other the high heat and humidity of an early September day.
The Screaming Eagles scoring started with junior John Arias at the 39 minute mark of the first half, off an assist by junior Andy Diaz, it would be the only goal of the first half for Seneca Valley. They went into halftime down 3-1.
After halftime, Seneca Valley came back and started scoring early. The second goal came from freshman Francisco Granados off a free kick just three minutes into the second half. Senior Christian Diaz put a penalty kick past the Wheaton goal keeper for the third and final Seneca Valley goal of the game.
