Two Armed Robberies Top Police Blotter

Montgomery County Police Department reported a number of criminal incidents in Germantown from Tuesday, July 28 through Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Waring Station Road was the scene of two armed robberies in ten days. In one a 51-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by a group of four males while riding his bicycle on Waring Station Road near Middlebrook Road shortly after 6:20 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 12. MCPD arrested an 15-year-old Rockville male and charged him with armed robbery. Police are still searching for the other three suspects. Read more here.

Eight days earlier, further down Waring Station Road in the vicinity of Roberto Clemente Middle School on the 18900 block of Waring Station, another armed robbery occurred at 11:24 pm on Monday, August 4. Police have arrested a 20-year-old female from Rockville in connection with that incident. Police said that the suspect in this case was known to the victim.

The two Waring Station incidents were not related, according to MCPD.

The Montgomery County Police website, www.mymcpnews.com reported a theft from a construction site on the 22800 block of Glacier Lily Drive in Germantown overnight from Thursday, July 31 to Friday, Aug. 1.

MCPD reports a sex assault taking place on the 18700 block of Caledonia Court in Germantown on Thursday, July 31. The suspect is known to the victim, according to police.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, police were called to the McDonalds 12982 Middlebrook Road to break up a fight involving two groups of five black female juveniles. Two 17-year-old females were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

A residential burglary occurred on the 20300 block of Beaconfield Terrace in Germantown at noon on Monday, Aug. 4. Police arrested a 17 year-old Germantown male that is known to the victim.

MCPD also reported five thefts from vehicles in the N1 Beat overnight Tuesday, July 29 or early Monday, July 30. Loose items were taken from Coral Grove Place, Waring Station Road and Wyman Way in Germantown.

Also on the N1 Beat, on Monday, Aug. 4, six vehicle-related thefts occurred on Crosstie Drive, Eagles Roost Drive Autumn Mist Drive and Open Hearth Way in Germantown, according to MCPD. Loose items such as cash, iPods, wallets and spare keys were stolen. The N1 Beat includes the area north of the MARC train tracks and south of Route 270 between Little Bennett Lake and Great Seneca State Park.

MCPD reminds residents that additional incidents may have occurred and the reports had not yet been received at the time of publication, on Aug. 14.
