Couple Found Guilty in Germantown Murder

August 8, 2014

A jury in Rockville has found a Tennessee couple guilty in the 2013 murder of Germantown resident Preeta Paul Gabba.

A Montgomery County jury convicted Baldeo Taneja, 63, and his new wife Raminder Kaur, 63, both of Nashville, Tenn. of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder on Thursday night. Taneja and Kaur will be sentenced on Oct. 15 and face a maximum of life in prison.

The jury found that the couple was guilty of driving from Nashville and gunning down Taneja’s ex-wife Gabba, 49, near her home in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive.

The motive for the murder, according to prosecutors, was Taneja allegedly owed over $10,000 to Gabba in back alimony as part of an acrimonious divorce settlement. It was reported, that Taneja was scheduled to appear in Montgomery County court a few days prior to the murder to discuss settlement of the alimony.
